The combination of sea and mountains, top quality skiing and snowboarding, no queues and low prices means that Narvik stands out from other places of the same altitude.  With the town centre in near proximity there is the possibility of participating in a variety of other activities. Skiing, snowboarding and outdoor life are natural focal points in Narvik.

Enjoy a preview tour of the town in the following pages.  Pay special attention to the photos and comments, as proof of our position as number one ski resort north of the Alps.
- Scandinavia’s largest vertical drop.
- The most northerly world class ski slopes
- Scandinavia’s best off piste.
- Northern Europe’s most beautiful ski resort.
- It is questionable whether it is possible to find a more beautiful view than the one found from the slopes in Narvik.

General information about winter sports in Narvik.

In Narvik there are in fact two ski resorts.  Ankenes has gentle slopes especially suitable for children, beginners and families.  Even so, an undulating terrain makes it fun and challenging.  Narvik’s main resort is more suitable for the more experienced skier and snowboarder who are after a real challenge.  Here, you will find the most extreme skiing Scandinavia has to offer.  In addition to all this, there are five other ski resorts within11/2 hours travel.

Apart from Scandinavia’s most amazing downhill resort, there are also over 30 mountain peaks of altitudes between 1300-1900m around Narvik.   Climbing, glacier walks, cross-country skiing (also in floodlit tracks), paragliding and mountain peak tours fulfil the wants and needs of any man.  The area is a real high in all senses of the word.

Narvik’s history of World Cup and alpine skiing competitions is impressive with several larger events having been organised by the very active Narvik Slalom Club.

A wide variety of sporting activities are possible in the Narvik area…

Although there are only 20 000 inhabitants, Narvik has all the amenities you would expect of a much larger town.

A good communications network makes Narvik easily accessible:  Two airports within easy reach (One not more than 2km from the town centre, the other an hour’s bus journey away).  Train to Stockholm.  Bus or train to Trondheim/Oslo.  Bus to Harstad, Tromsø and other places in northern Norway.  Boat connection to Svolvær on the Lofoten islands.
